Winrock International-Nepal's activities is also to increase Nepal's access to carbon financing through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, voluntary market and Reduced Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). WI-Nepal is involved in developing CDM Projects of Small Scale Project Activities in Biogas, Micro-hydro, and Solar home systems. Similarly, it also undertakes projects related to forestry carbon financing through REDD and related mechanisms.

Winrock International-Nepal in partnership with various stakeholder undertakes the studies on Reduced Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) to assist government of Nepal on formulating the REDD policy ensuring equitable access of forest dependent communities to forest carbon revenue for the ecological and socio-cultural integrity of the region.
