Winrock's Clean Energy Group (CEG), operating through the Renewable Energy Project Support Office (REPSO), works towards the commercialization of "clean" renewable energy technologies by lowering risks and barriers to their adoption through a range of activities including policy research and advocacy support and awareness programs. We also focus on how social equity and environmental justice may be ensured to the poor and marginalized. Winrock believes that a successful transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources can occur earlier in the 21st century in smaller and less industrialized countries like Nepal, which have no fossil fuel resources of its own and is actively involved in improving Nepal's access to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) to improve the feasibility of clean energy projects by quantifying their global carbon benefits.
